I have a HP Pavilion that I purchased in '98. Recently, possibly due to a lightning strike, the modem has generated tones which sound like they are in a barrel and which the phone service doesn't recognize. There is absolutely no response. The modem is trying, but the tones are just not clear (a "fuzzy" sound).
Any suggestions?
